Tips for Calming Your Dog During Fireworks
With summer holidays like the 4th of July quickly approaching, fireworks are sure to follow. Although the brilliance of fireworks may give you feelings of excitement and nostalgia, your dog may not feel the same. Many dogs & cats have a fear of the loud sounds and flashes of light that accompany fireworks. It’s been shown that at least 1/3 of dogs suffer from some form of noise-aversion.
The good news, however, is that some simple techniques can help to alleviate some of your pet’s firework anxiety. Easy improvements like making sure your dog is exercised before fireworks start and has a safe space can help them avoid stress and destructive behaviors.
